Restoration Farm is happy to announce that pottery classes are back! Check out the following classes. All classes require pre-registration. Be sure to contact Sarah to secure your spot as these classes are likely to fill up quickly!

We will have pottery demonstrations as part of our Spring Celebration on May 14th as well. Be sure to RSVP (by May 7th)for that event at https://therestorationfarm.org/spring-celebration/

“Try it” class – One 3 hour class from 6:00-9:00pm offered on the following dates: June 9, July 1, August 19, and September 6. Cost $70.00. Limited to 5 people.

Learn how to center clay on the wheel. Conquering this foundational skill will then allow you to make cups, bowls, and other pieces.  At the end of this class you will choose two of your favorite pieces that you created and then choose which glaze color you would like. (We have a variety!) 15 pounds of clay included.

Your pieces will then be trimmed, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and finally glazed fired. Each piece needs about a week to dry out and each firing takes several days. We will contact you when they are ready to be picked up (usually 8-12 days).

Beginner Wheel class – This is a 3 week class offered June 7, 14, and 21 from 6:00-9:00pm. Cost $190.00 Limited to 5 people.

Learn how to center clay on the wheel. Conquering this foundational skill will then allow you to make cups, tumblers, bowls, and other pieces. In second and third classes, learn the finer skills of trimming, and the creative ideas and techniques of glazing. Follow up classes will also allow you more time on the wheel. 25 pounds of clay included.

Intermediate Wheel class: This is a 3 week class offered June 8, 15, and 22 from 6:00-9:00pm. Cost $190.00 Limited to 5 people.

For those with foundational skills (centering 1-3 pounds of clay on the wheel)-Learn how to center larger weights of clay on the wheel. Learn new techniques which include throwing lines, swirls, and the use of ribs for more decorative finishes on your wheel thrown pieces. Additional skills taught also include handle pulling for mugs, pitchers, etc.  25 pounds of clay included.

If interested, spend some time learning about the technique and chemistry of making glazes. While we do have brushing glazes available, we also make some of our glazes from scratch.

***You can reach out to Sarah via phone at 410-877-4484 or her email [email protected] to directly secure your spot for these classes.
