The Need
When a family is enduring an extended life threatening illness, or caring for someone who is permanently disabled, or trying to find the “new normal” in the middle of an unexpected life altering event; Restoration Farm wants to be there for them. Prolonged grief without the therapy of fresh air and sunshine produces burnout and makes any type of suffering unbearable.
Program Purpose
- To schedule day events designed to showcase the beauty of nature at the farm in order to provide comfort and encouragement to hurting families.
- To give care-givers and suffering families a beautiful day of respite and relaxation.
Day at the Farm Activities
Visit the Lambs Events. Every year we enjoy seeing beautiful little lambs born in our barn. This past year we had 18 lambs! There’s nothing cuter than bringing your children to see these little ones. We schedule times for guests to come and interact with the lambs.
Animal Days. Has your loved one ever met a goat or collected eggs from a chicken house? Have they ever had an opportunity to fish from a farm pond?
Community Wide Events. Have you ever seen a dog hunting demonstration? Have you ever had a chance to shoot a bow and arrow? Have you ever seen a blacksmith at work? Recently we had an event called the “Doctor Cook Outdoor Experience” which had all these activities rolled into one! In September we’re having our annual FarmFest (used to be called LogFest). Youth groups from local churches are invited to come out for a day of farm activities and fun!
Next Steps
We’re working on bigger and better events which help strengthen families. Join our Facebook Group “The Restoration Farm” in Street Maryland to stay up to date!
